Day 1: Arrival and Addis Ababa Sightseeing
Arrive in Addis Ababa and transfer to your accommodation. After refreshing, visit Mount Entoto for panoramic city views, the National Museum to see the fossil “Lucy,” Holy Trinity Cathedral, the Ethnographic Museum, and Merkato, one of East Africa’s largest markets.
Day 2: Addis Ababa to Simien Mountains National Park
Fly to Gondar and continue by vehicle to Sankaber, the gateway to Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Meet the trekking team, complete park preparations, and settle into the mountain environment.
Day 3: Trek from Sankaber to Geech
Trek from Sankaber to Geech at about 3,600 meters elevation. The route normally takes 5 to 7 hours and offers excellent mountain views. Along the way, see the Jinnbar River and waterfall area, cross the river, and ascend toward Geech. Gelada baboons are commonly seen on this route.
Day 4: Trek from Geech to Chenek
Trek from Geech to Chenek at about 3,620 meters elevation. Follow dramatic highland escarpments and viewpoints before descending toward Chenek. Wildlife sightings may include gelada baboons and Walia ibex.
Day 5: Day Trekking Around Chenek
Spend the day trekking around the Chenek area, known for its excellent viewpoints and wildlife habitat. Depending on conditions and fitness level, explore nearby ridges and highland landscapes while enjoying the dramatic Simien scenery.
Day 6: Simien Mountains to Gondar
Enjoy a final morning in the Simien Mountains. After lunch, drive back to Gondar, arriving in the late afternoon. The evening is free for rest or light local exploration.
Day 7: Gondar to Addis Ababa and Departure
After breakfast, travel from Gondar to Addis Ababa by flight or onward connection. Depending on your schedule, enjoy an optional cultural dinner with traditional dishes, live dances, and coffee ceremony before departure.
