Day 1: Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar and Lake Tana
Fly or drive to Bahir Dar, a beautiful city on the shore of Lake Tana. Upon arrival, visit the Blue Nile Falls if water levels and timing permit. In the afternoon, enjoy a lakeside walk or a relaxing boat ride on Lake Tana, followed by sunset views over the water.
Day 2: Lake Tana Monasteries and Drive to Gorgora
In the morning, take a boat excursion on Lake Tana to visit historic island monasteries such as Ura Kidane Mihret, known for its colorful murals, and other accessible monasteries depending on conditions. In the afternoon, drive north to Gorgora, a quiet lakeside town with historical significance. Explore the Portuguese ruins and enjoy peaceful views of Lake Tana.
Day 3: Gorgora to Gondar and Royal Castles
After breakfast, drive from Gorgora to Gondar, the former imperial capital of Ethiopia. Visit the Royal Enclosure, also known as Fasil Ghebbi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring medieval castles, palaces, and fortified structures.
