Overview
This 4-day Simien Mountains trekking tour is a compact adventure through one of Ethiopia’s most spectacular landscapes. After traveling to Gondar and entering Simien Mountains National Park, trek from Sankaber to Geech and Chenek, passing dramatic escarpments, waterfalls, highland scenery, and wildlife habitats. Gelada baboons are commonly seen, and Walia ibex may be spotted near Chenek. This tour is ideal for active travelers with limited time.

Day 1: Addis Ababa to Gondar and Simien Mountains National Park
Fly to Gondar and continue by vehicle to Sankaber, the gateway to Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Meet the trekking team, complete park arrangements, and prepare for the trek. Depending on arrival time, enjoy short walks and views around the Sankaber area.
Day 2: Trek from Sankaber to Geech
Trek from Sankaber to Geech at about 3,600 meters elevation. The route usually takes 5 to 7 hours and passes beautiful mountain scenery. After around one and a half hours, view the Jinnbar River and waterfall area before crossing the river and ascending toward Geech. Gelada baboons are often seen along the route.
Day 3: Trek from Geech to Chenek
Trek from Geech to Chenek at about 3,620 meters elevation. The route follows breathtaking escarpments, including viewpoints around the high Enatye area, before descending toward Chenek. The scenery is dramatic, and wildlife sightings may include gelada baboons and Walia ibex.
Day 4: Return to Gondar and Fly to Addis Ababa
After breakfast, leave the Simien Mountains and drive back to Gondar. Continue to Addis Ababa by flight or onward connection. Depending on timing, the evening may include an optional cultural dinner and coffee ceremony before departure.
